(Pillars of Society)

The life of a shipowner is disturbed by the return of his brother-in-law, who knows the truth about his past. Twelve years after staging it in the theater, Sirk adapts Ibsen’s play with some variations, such as the prologue in America and the storm scene, and highlights the irony of the title.
