In a Himalayan polyandrous village in Nepal, newly married and pregnant Pema tries to make the best of her new life. But soon, her first husband Tashi vanishes on the trade route to Lhasa. Accompanied by her de facto husband, the monk Karma, she embarks on a journey into the unforgiving wilderness to find him, which evolves into a quest of self-discovery and liberation.

As a filmmaker native to the Himalayan region of Nepal, I feel a responsibility to explore the complexity of our social fabric, woven with traditional norms and values, depicting the life of a young woman in a polyandrous relationship.

En tant que cinéaste né dans l’Himalaya népalais, j’estime qu’il est de ma responsabilité d’explorer la complexité de notre tissu social, empreint de normes et de valeurs traditionnelles, en dépeignant la vie d’une jeune femme polyandre.
