Alberto Mondadori (1914 Ostiglia – 1976 Venice), in his cinematic debuts as screenwriter and director, created The Revealing Heart (1934) together with Cesare Civita and Mario Monicelli, followed by The Boys of Via Paal (1935) co-directed with Monicelli. In the aftermath of World War II, as a young editorial director, he worked with his father Arnoldo to relaunch the family business. In 1958 he founded the Il Saggiatore publishing house, establishing himself as one of the major cultural driving forces of the time.
