Ferdinando Maria Poggioli (Bologna, 1897 – Rome, 1945) was a director and screenwriter. After obtaining a degree in trade and economics from Venice University and winning favorable notice as a critic with the magazine Cinematografo, Poggioli worked his way up in the film industry and made his directing debut with the documentary Impressioni siciliane (1931). His later filmography included Addio giovinezza! (1940), Yes, Madam (1942), Jealousy (1942), adapted from Luigi Capuana’s 1901 novel The Marquis of Roccaverdina, La bisbetica domata (1942), L’amico delle donne (1943) and Sogno d’amore (1943). In 1944 he completed his final two films as director, Il cappello da prete and The Materassi Sisters.
