Frank Borzage (1894 – 1962) è stato un regista e attore americano. Considerato fra gli anni Venti e Trenta fra i maggiori cineasti di Hollywood, tanto da vincere il primissimo Oscar per la miglior regia con Settimo cielo (1927), in seguito è stato declassato a regista di compassati melodrammi, per poi venire riscoperto agli albori del nuovo millennio, e difeso fra gli altri da Martin Scorsese. Fra i suoi film che hanno meglio retto la sfida del tempo, L’angelo della strada (1928), Addio alle armi (1932), Man’s Castle (1933) e Bufera mortale (1940).

Frank Borzage (1894 – 1962) was an American film director and actor. Regarded in the 1920s and 1930s as one of Hollywood’s best filmmakers, winning the first ever Academy Award for Best Director for 7th Heaven (1927), he was later dismissed as a director of stuffy melodramas – before being rediscovered around the turn of the millennium, championed, among others, by Martin Scorsese. His most enduring works include Street Angel (1928), A Farewell to Arms (1932), Man’s Castle (1933), and The Mortal Storm (1940).
