William A. Seiter (1890 – 1964) worked as a Hollywood director from 1915 until 1954, helming well over 100 projects, before seeing out his career as an equally prolific director of television shows. He is best remembered for his work in comedy, having directed films starring Wheeler & Woolsey, the Marx Brothers, Abbott and Costello, and, perhaps most notably, Laurel and Hardy, with his Sons of the Desert (1933) generally being considered one of the duo’s best features.
