Locarno 2020 is coming to an end: tonight, at 8.30 PM, the closing ceremony will take place at the GranRex and also be available online via livestream, with a brief video recapping the highlights of this unusual, hybrid edition. The second part of the event will be devoted to the world premiere of La France contre les Robots, the new short film by French director Jean-Marie Straub, a longtime friend of the Festival who received the Pardo d’onore in 2017. Last but not least, we will return – cinematically, anyway – to the toughest period of the last few months, with a selection of films from the Lockdown Collection: an anthology of 33 short films by Swiss directors, made during the self-isolation phase. Nine of these films, some with the directors in attendance, will mark the end of Locarno 2020. These nine titles include My Mom, My Son and Me by Andrea Štaka, who won the Pardo d’oro in 2006 for Fraulein and recently directed Mare, now playing in Swiss cinemas.
