The “Audience Award” contest is organized in the context of the Locarno Shorts Weeks 2024 initiative and has the purpose of awarding the best film of the program.
These Rules and regulations are subject to the general Terms and Conditions of the Locarno Shorts Weeks 2024.
1. Organization
The “Locarno Shorts Weeks Audience Award” is organized by the Festival Internazionale del Film di Locarno (hereinafter “Locarno Film Festival”).
2. Dates of the event
The Locarno Shorts Weeks 2024 take place on the website www.locarnofestival.ch from February 1st to February 29th 2024.
3. Range
The Locarno Shorts Weeks 2024 program is a selection of short films from the official program of the Locarno Film Festival 2022.
4. How to participate
All the short films selected in the program of the Locarno Shorts Weeks 2024 by the Artistic Direction of the Locarno Film Festival participate in the “Locarno Shorts Weeks Audience Award” 2024.
By accepting the participation of the short film in the Locarno Shorts Weeks 2024, the Right Holder accepts the participation in the “Locarno Shorts Weeks Audience Award” contest and agrees to the Terms and Conditions.
5. The jury
The Jury of the “Locarno Shorts Weeks Audience Award” 2024 is made of all the members of the audience who have registered their vote between February 1st and February 29th 2024 via the online voting form. Only one vote per person per film is allowed.
6. Official Award
The Jury awards the “Locarno Shorts Weeks Audience Award” 2024 to the short film that receives the highest average score among the short films presented in the Locarno Shorts Weeks 2024.
The “Locarno Shorts Weeks Audience Award” 2024 consists of a money prize of CHF 1’000.00 to be equally shared between the director(s) and the World distributor of the winning short film.
7. How to vote
Each audience member can rate each short film by assigning it a score from 1 to 5 stars on the online voting form, 5 being the top rating and 1 being the lowest rating.
8. Scrutinizing
The votes are scrutinized by a representative of the Locarno Film Festival with a software on the day that follows the last day of the event.
The “Locarno Shorts Weeks Audience Award” 2024 is assigned to the short films that has the best score, resulting from the average of all the registered ratings.
The result is announced by March 6, 2024.
9. Prizes for the audience
3 winners are drawn by lot from among all the “Locarno Shorts Weeks Audience Award” 2024 voters.
The first prize consists of 2 passes for the 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival. The second and third prizes both consist of 1 pass for the 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival.
The draw is made by a representative of the Locarno Film Festival and takes place at the latest on March 6, 2024. Only one vote per person per film is allowed. The winners are informed by the Locarno Film Festival. The prizes can be collected at the accreditation desk of the 77th Locarno Film Festival. The prizes cannot be paid in cash. The jury’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into in this regard. All participants accept the Terms and Conditions.
10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by Swiss substantive law. Exclusive place of jurisdiction is Locarno-Città, Switzerland.
