Charlie Chaplin nasce a Walworth, Londra, nel 1889. È una delle più brillanti star del firmamento di Hollywod, inesorabilmente associato al personaggio di Charlot e universalmente riconosciuto come un’icona dell’era del film muto. Chaplin è uno dei rari comici che finanziano e producono i loro film, ma non solo: recita e cura anche la sceneggiatura, la regia e la composizione della colonna sonora della maggior parte delle sue opere. Muore il giorno di Natale del 1977 lasciando otto figli, nati dal suo ultimo matrimonio con Oona O’Neill.

Il fut l’un des rares comédiens à financer et à produire ses films; il est aussi l’auteur, l’acteur, le réalisateur et le compositeur d’une grande partie de sa filmographie. Il mourut en 1977, le jour de Noël, laissant huit enfants de son dernier mariage avec Oona O’Neill.

Charlie Chaplin (born in Walworth, London, 1889), considered to be one of the most pivotal stars of the early days of Hollywood, is recognized as an icon of the silent film era, often associated with his popular Little Tramp character. He was one of the rare comedians who not only financed and produced his films, but also was the author, actor, director and soundtrack composer of most of them. He died on Christmas day 1977, survived by eight children from his last marriage with Oona O’Neill.
