Celebrating its 75 years of history, the Locarno Film Festival is delighted to strengthen and display its close ties with the whole of Switzerland through this new initiative, made possible thanks to FFS and the event’s Main Partners, UBS, Manor, la Mobiliare, Swisscom and Ascona-Locarno Turismo

Today, 16 May, in the so-called “Cathedral” – the main workshop at Officine di Bellinzona – a ceremony was held to unveil the special leopard print livery for the locomotive dedicated to the Locarno Film Festival. For a whole year, starting from tomorrow, the 18.5 meter-long, Pininfarina-designed loco will travel the length and breadth of Switzerland, taking the yellow and black spots of the Festival Leopard to each corner of the national rail network.

Marco Solari, president of the Locarno Film Festival: «Like the Swiss Railways, our event has spent its 75 years contributing to the unification of the country and the bringing together of its linguistic and cultural identities.»

Roberta Cattaneo, head of FFS Regione Sud: «It’s the perfect way to carry the message of this major milestone throughout Switzerland. A roaring leopard of a locomotive, to honor the Locarno Film Festival and signal both our organizations’ commitment to sustainable mobility.»

The 75th Locarno Film Festival will be held from 3 to 13 August 2022. This celebratory edition will be enhanced by special events and initiatives.
