LONG DISTANCE
by Nadja Tanno, Animation, Master Animation, 6’ 02”, 2023
A young woman living in a modern metropolis has recently entered into a long-distance relationship. She feels lost and alone in her new situation and swings between melancholy, frustration, hope and excitement. As time passes, she attempts to connect with her partner, or rather with her own idea of him, through different means of technology. After an unsuccessful final attempt to arrange a rendezvous, she acknowledges that she must let go and finds solace by being present in the real world.
As our world becomes increasingly interconnected, many people find themselves grappling with the unique challenges posed by long-distance relationships. „Long Distance" explores the emotional transformation that can occur when one is separated from their partner, capturing the underlying atmosphere of uncertainty that accompanies such experiences.
RACIST JOURNAL
by Elena Ottavi, Animation, Master Animation, 4’ 31”, 2024
Andrea’s voice guides us through some thoughts, insinuating that we are all racists, Andrea first. Playing on the erroneous clichés around discrimination, such as the belief that no person of respect can be racist, or that black people are dangerous, the monologue brings us a stream of consciousness that is meant to make us reflect in the narration and consider the perceptions of ourselves and others. While listening to the words, the audience is visually led through an ordinary day in life: Andrea shuts off their alarm clock, then gets up, eats breakfast, and brushes their teeth. They take the bus and go to work, stopping on the way for a coffee to go. Lunch out and back to work in the afternoon. A quick drink with friends, home to have dinner, and finally back to bed. So, a racist leads a life like mine, yours, or anyone else’s?
