Led by Claude Barras, the Oscar-nominated director of My Life as a Zucchini, a group of Swiss animators, flanked by experts in youth education, have made all their knowledge and experience in the field of animation available to the directors of tomorrow.
Children and young people, together with their families, friends and classmates, are thus enabled to enter the wonderful world of stop motion animation and experiment with this technique to tell their own stories and convey their own imagery.
This first edition was a long and fantastic journey, which brought many stories from the imagination of the little ones to the Festival.
These are the winning short films of the 2020 Locarno Kids HomeMade Movies. In addition to receiving a much-appreciated prize, these eleven short films will be presented as part of the official programming of the 74th edition of the Locarno Film Festival. Congratulation
A noteworthy prize will also be given to the runners-up for the beauty of the stories told and for their commitment to using the stop motion technique.
Congratulations to all of the participants in the Locarno Kids HomeMade Movies competition and thank you very much for sending us your short films, and who knows ... maybe there is still time for some surprises!
Seeing the winning films, did you want to tell your story? Excellent, because we are waiting for you! The stop-motion lessons of Claude Barras and the other experienced animators are at your disposal: discover them, watch them all and then let your imagination run wild.
