In an attempt to get closer to his father, Leonardo starts filming him in his everyday life. As days go by, Esteban notices the camera and uses it as a means of communicating with his son.
In a messy home-workshop, we observe the routine of an old man, furniture maker, as he watches TV, eats lunch and works the wooden pieces. Suddenly, in an unexpected act of apparent disobedience, he will reveal to us the presence of another subject, and the absence of a third one. A new film will arise on the boundaries between fiction and documentary. Each camera movement will work as a revelation, and will bring us further into the emotional intimacy of these two men.
… the beginning of a new chapter in my life. My filmmaking career started during Locarno 72 with the worldwide premiere of The Furniture Maker. The energy of the festival and the selected films create a perfect place with beautiful scenery for all filmmakers and film fans to renew their passion for cinema. I will always look forward to come back. Best wishes and congrats to all the Locarno Film Festival team.
