Irati Gorostidi Agirretxe is a filmmaker based in the Basque Country and is currently developing her first feature, Anekumen, which was selected at the residency program Ikusmira Berriak 2022 and has participated in several labs and markets. Her latest short film Contadores premiered at Cannes Critics Week 2023 and is part of the Basque short film catalog Kimuak. Her previous film San Simón 62, currently in distribution, was the winner of X Films at Punto de Vista International Documentary Film Festival 2021 and is shown at the Z Hall of the Artium Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country. Her previous films have been screened internationally at film festivals and museums. She studied art and film in Bilbao and Barcelona, and was a Fulbright scholar in New York.

San Sebastian, 1978. Factory workers meet to discuss a strike that never comes to term. Disappointed, the most radical decide to leave the factory and join a libertarian commune in the mountains of Navarra.
In Anekumen I explore one of the most characteristic reactions to political disappointment: the search for a reduced and isolated model of society in which to put political ideals into practice, delving into the convoluted contradictions that this path entails.
