Mulher de Verdade

This Brazilian social comedy was the winner of the 2023 restoration contest at Locarno Pro, judged by a panel of experts to be the title most worthy of restoration. Directed by the globe-trotting Alberto Cavalcanti on a brief and unhappy return to his home country, Mulher de Verdade is a vivid and precious snapshot of Brazil in the mid-1950s, before the political climate shifted later in the decade.
