Anastasia Ursu

Anastasia Ursu is a filmmaker, singer-songwriter, and musician from Moldova, currently based in Italy. She graduated in Visual Design (Film) from CISA Locarno in 2023. She co-founded Materia Viva (Switzerland), a cultural association dedicated to experimental and innovative audiovisual storytelling. Her films explore the intersection of reality, myth, and folk fairytales, employing magical realism to uncover hidden narratives in everyday life. Her short film Cotton Candy Valley won Best Screenplay at CortIntelvi, and Furia earned second prize at the Asa Nisi Masa competition at Cineteca di Milano. She is currently securing funding for her next documentary, Penumbra.
