American writer, director, editor, and cinematographer Steven Soderbergh (born 1963) won the Palme d’or for his first feature film, Sex, Lies and Videotape (1989). This success has since been followed by an eclectic and prolific career, including commercial blockbusters like Ocean's Eleven (2001) and Magic Mike (2012) and acclaimed Academy Award winners, such as Erin Brockovich (2000) and Traffic (2000). At the same time, he has also made numerous more narratively and formally experimental films, such as The Girlfriend Experience (2009), Unsane (2018), and Kimi (2022).
