Smoke

1995
A dizzying cast of great actors: William Hurt as a writer struggling to find his creativity after the death of his wife, Harvey Keitel as the owner of a tobacconist store who discovers he has a pregnant, drug-addled daughter, and Forest Whitaker as a man who wants to put the past behind him. Their interplay creates a great ensemble in the Christmas-themed Smoke. Winning the 1995 Prix du Public UBS in the Piazza Grande is but a launching pad for a movie destined to become part of film history.
