The story centers around a young woman, suffering from mental retardation, but also exceptionally gifted when it comes to music. One smile is enough to make us understand how tenacity and fragility can coexist within the same person. That person is Gabrielle (Gabrielle Marion-Rivard). The main character’s name is also the title of the 2013 film that the Piazza Grande audience experienced with bated breath. On one side, a different person’s dreams of autonomy and love; on the other, the outside world’s predjudice and pressures. And in the end, tears and applause led, naturally, to winning the Prix du Public UBS.
