There are great films that give us access to the great tragedies of history, and they do so thanks to talented actors like Friedrich Mühe. In the masterpiece that is Das Leben der Anderen he plays a Stasi spy, and his interceptions dictate the thriller-like pace that takes us through Cold War Germany.
