Timoteus Anggawan Kusno

Timoteus Anggawan Kusno is an artist and filmmaker whose work questions the shadow of coloniality and dictatorship. He has been exhibited globally in various museums, including the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul, the Mumbai City Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei, the Kunstmuseum Bonn, and Center for Fine Art Brussels. Kusno has participated in international biennales, including Biennale Equator and the 13th Gwangju Biennale. His films have been screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, CPH:DOX Copenhagen, and VideoEx Zurich. In 2021, he received the Video Production Award from the Han Nefkens Foundation – Loop Barcelona. In 2024, he received the Mondriaan Fonds and VISIO Production Fund for his artist films. He lives and works between Amsterdam and Yogyakarta.

Selected Project: "Nest for the Wind"

In the ocean-facing village of Tanah Runcuk, a sea ceremony and overnight party descend into chaos when the entire community awakens with no memories. Toh, a young fisherman returning from the sea, discovers he alone retains his past. Racing against time and the threat of losing his memories if he sleeps, Toh desperately creates mementos to preserve his fading recollections. His quest uncovers Tanah Runcuk's dark history of mind control experiments orchestrated by a former dictator, revealing the haunting cost of forgotten truths.
